The FSA Spa & Corrective Experiences…What’s the Difference?

At FSA, we have two main programs to meet the needs of our various clients, The FSA Spa Experience and The FSA Corrective Experience.  We thought we’d take a minute to explain the similarities and differences between the two, and how we came up with this style of services.  First, let’s chat just a minute about the latter.

Since Facets of Skin Aesthetics is really all about each of our clients’ unique skin journeys, we not only looked at our own when creating the treatment programs, but also our experiences as licensed Skin Care Specialists.  Traditionally, when in school and even in the workplace, we skin pros are taught that there are two main tracks a licensed professional can choose…wellness or medical.  And often times, if we don’t choose one, one is sorta chosen for us.  We can’t tell you how many times we’ve heard, “You seem more medical in your approach” or “Your facial massage technique is so relaxing, you could make a lot of money in a wellness spa”.  The thing is though, who says we can’t do both?  Skin health isn’t all wellness or medical, and real results don’t happen from just one over the other, either.  It’s dialing in and finding the ultimate combination that works for each person, their skin, and their lifestyle.  We also know that for some people, a more wellness centered approach is appreciated, and for others targeted results are desired.  So, we designed our two programs.  They are equal in the care we show our clients, and the value we provide.  And while they differ a bit in terms of approach and results, you’ll find a little of each in the other.

The FSA Spa Experience

This facial is born out of our love for performing facial massage.  We could do facial massage all day…and we do!  And since combining aspects of wellness and skincare have been a part of our Founder’s life for a long time (read the blog post “Meet Our Founder”), it was important to create an experience that could really capture this idea.  So, the day of you can expect us to thoroughly analyze your skin.  This helps us to customize the right enzyme treatment for your skin in its present condition, as well as select the perfect massage medium.  Our facial massage is the star of the show, and we’ll let our hands do the talking about that.  The aim of the massage is to increase circulation, plump fine lines, encourage collagen production, tone the skin, and put the mind at rest.  We’ll do light extractions, but it’s less about beating your pores into submission and more about lulling them.  And, to truly customize this facial, we wanted to do a bit more.  So, we’ll be asking about the music you want that day, or ASMR, or the mood you feel is right for your experience.  Do you need utter quiet?  Do you prefer the natural light, or should we pull the blinds?  You ask for the tone, and we set it to the best of our ability.  For the ultimate experience, you’ll also have the option to add 20 minutes of LED light therapy with a live, simultaneous guided meditation.  The LED light therapy is FDA cleared to treat acne and reduce the signs of aging.  All that while you get in some extra breath work and take a few minutes to be fully present.  This facial experience is perfect for anyone who values rest and relaxation, and also loves having soft, supple, radiant skin.

The FSA Corrective Experience

We love facial massage, it’s true, and we’re also all about skin barrier health and real results.  Enter this bespoke corrective program experience.   This personalized program focuses on the multi-faceted needs of your skin, increasing your skin’s barrier health while we address your skin concerns, resulting in attaining healthy skin and your skin goals.  We’ll make sure open communication is part of our approach, too, so you’ll know just what to expect over the course of your program.  Corrective treatments are often a marathon, not a sprint, so verbal check-ins and a thorough skin analysis at the start of each appointment is a must.  Our Corrective Experiences may run anywhere from 3-12 weeks, depending upon skin conditions and your goals.  The frequency of appointments may be bi-weekly, or once or twice weekly, depending on the treatment modalities included in your program.  We will discuss the various approaches, modalities, and maintenance that may be required to achieve your desired results during your advanced consultation, and some of these may include: 30 minute prep facials prior to your treatment program, thorough extractions, chemical peels, LED light therapy, microcurrent, Circadia SWiCH or oxygen treatments, and specific home care, among others.  And, of course, even our corrective treatments are performed with an artful touch - because everyone needs to take a moment to rest.  This type of corrective treatment program is perfect for anyone with sensitive or compromised skin, or specific skin concerns surrounding age management or developing an aging plan, skin laxity/tone/texture, hyperpigmentation, and peri menopausal and menopausal skin.

Remember, before booking either of these experiences, every new client starts with our FSA Advanced Consultation.  This gives us an opportunity to get to know each other better, and ensures a truly personalized experience since we cover a slew of information to help us gain a fuller understanding of your skin and its needs.  And regardless, you choose which experience is right for you.  So, to recap, while one of our experiences is steeped in wellness and one in more corrective treatments, you’ll find a bit of both in each.  And most importantly, both give us the chance to take care of your needs - and as service providers that’s the most important thing!
